THE DUSTY HARP PICKUP; AMPLIFICATION FOR YOUR HARP

After extensive development and testing, Dusty Strings has created a harp pickup that is able to make your harp sound louder, without destroying its beautiful tone voice and character.

The Dusty Harp Pickup uses 4 carefully selected piezo elements (3 elements in the case of their smaller P10 model) spaced along the length of the harp's soundboard which create a balanced sound throughout the whole range of your harp. Rich bass notes blend with the clear mid and high sections, and provide a natural-sounding amplification at any volume level. It's the sound of your harp, only bigger!

The Dusty Harp Pickup series is available in three sizes and can be successfully installed in a wide variety of harp models made by other makers, including a special pickup designed for pedal harps.

The Dusty Pickup is discreetly mounted inside the sound box, invisible to the audience. A single jack mounted on the back of the harp makes for "plug and play" ease of use. An instrument cable (not included) connects your harp directly to any amplifier and most PA systems.

In most situations a pre-amplifier is not needed, but if you are playing in situations requiring very high volume, you may want to add one. In addition to boosting the signal, the pre-amp will give you direct control over your volume and tone. With some amplifiers, a pre-amp can also sweeten and smooth out your sound.

The Dusty Harp Pickup can be purchased directly through HARP IN LA. It can be installed in any new Dusty Strings harp purchased through HARP IN LA before leaving the factory, or installed in your existing harp by any instrument repair technician or luthier. It even can be installed by harp owners handy with tools.

Installation involves attaching mounting clips to the internal braces or sides of the harp, snapping the cable harness into the clips, gluing the elements in place, and drilling a hole to mount the jack in the back of the harp.

Detailed instructions and a template for placing the elements in a Dusty Strings harps are included with your purchase. If you are installing the pickup in a different type of harp, begin by using the template as a starting point and experiment with the element placement before installation to confirm the best sounding attachment points.

The only tool you'll need is a ½-inch brad point drill bit, available at most hardware stores. If you prefer not to drill a hole, you can alternatively connect to the jack through the bottom sound hole of your harp, or add Dusty Strings' Jack Clamp for a secure and removable way to anchor the jack.

To order your Dusty Harp Pickup, contact HARP IN LA by phone or email. Be sure to have handy the make and model name of your harp and how many strings it has. Shipping time is approximately 5 - 10 days, depending on availability.
